The intensive workshop is a one day event, comprising of four different sessions, two breaks, and lunch. Each session includes ample time for questions and participant discussion.
9:00am- 10:30am: Educational Opportunities
This session will explore the different types of education available to young people in Canada, exploring questions such as: What educational options do I have? What are the entrance criteria and workloads? How can I get to where I want to go?
10:30am – 10:45am: Break
10:45am – 12:15pm: Finding Employment
This session will explore the different types of education available to young people in Canada, exploring questions such as: What educational options do I have? What are the entrance criteria and workloads? How can I get to where I want to go?
12:15pm – 1:15pm: Lunch
1:15pm – 2.45pm: Communication Skills
This session will focus on various communication skills such as writing professional emails, telephone etiquette and harnessing social media like LinkedIn; as well as body language, vocal intonation and appropriate attire to make a good impression.
2:45pm – 3:00pm: Break
3:00pm –4.30pm: Successful Networking
This session will focus on improving networking skills (both in-person and virtually), as well as discovering and accessing helpful resources that can open up employment, education, and business opportunities..
4:30-5:00pm: Conclusion
To end the day, we will discuss the possibility of optional online follow-up sessions for eager participants, which will be tailored to the group at hand.
